Dizziness and Vestibular System
Restore your balance, improve your daily life
In my physiotherapy practice in Basel, I offer specialized therapies for people experiencing dizziness and vestibular disorders, in line with current scientific standards.
Dizziness is often underestimated or considered inevitable, sometimes attributed to aging. However, this is not true. With a precise diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and targeted exercises, it is possible to:
- correct the symptoms,
- improve balance,
- and enhance quality of life in daily activities.

What is dizziness?
Dizziness is, above all, a subjective sensation of imbalance. It can feel like spinning, swaying, unsteadiness, or even a floating sensation. The causes are varied and may involve:
- The inner ear and vestibular nerves
- The central nervous system
- The cervical spine
- Oculomotor (eye movement) issues
- The cardiovascular system
✅ Good to know: I base my therapy on the specific symptoms and difficulties described by each patient. Dizziness can have many different causes, which is why I combine several approaches tailored to each individual situation.
Types of dizziness
Each patient has their own needs, and the therapeutic approach must be tailored accordingly.

The cause of imbalance
Balance disorders and dizziness are symptoms I frequently encounter in my patients during vestibular physiotherapy in Basel. These issues can limit daily activities and significantly affect quality of life. To maintain balance, our body relies on three main sensory systems:
🧠 Vestibular
👁️ Visual
🦵 Proprioception
These sensory inputs are processed in different centers of the brain. I also take into account other factors that influence balance and environmental perception, such as muscle strength, postural control, coordination, attention and concentration, as well as the cardiovascular system.
When one of these systems is affected by a disorder or disease, it can lead to imbalance and dizziness. Symptoms and causes are highly variable, and each patient presents a unique combination of contributing factors.
