The running clinic

Whether you are a runner or a cyclist, your joints, muscles, and tendons are subjected to repetitive stress. In my sports physiotherapy practice in Basel, I support athletes of all levels to prevent injuries, improve performance, and promote optimal recovery.

My approach: inspired by “The running clinic”

The Canadian training program, the running clinic was a game changer in my practice.
This positive, science-based approach taught me one essential lesson: keep things simple.

➡️ Did you know that 80% of running injuries are caused by a sudden change in training or environment?
➡️ The truth is, there’s no such thing as a miracle shoe.
➡️ And an MRI or gait analysis is not necessary as a first step.

Common Issues I Treat in Sports Physiotherapy

In sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation, I regularly support athletes dealing with:

  • Muscle or tendon overload linked to a change in training
  • Patellar tendinopathy
  • Iliotibial band syndrome (runner’s knee)
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Lower back pain
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome
  • Ankle sprains

And all lower limb conditions, from the simplest to the most complex.

Myths and misconceptions to move beyond

Many outdated beliefs still circulate in sports and health.
Example: In 2025, we no longer use ice for an ankle sprain.
Modern research and science provide many tools for better treatment.

✅ My role is to translate this scientific knowledge into clear, practical, and simple solutions for my patients.

Preventing Injuries and Optimizing Performance

Physiotherapy is not only about recovery, it also helps prevent injuries and enhance athletic performance.

👉 For runners: gait work, cadence, muscle preparation, and advice for safe progress
👉 For cyclists: postural adjustment, prevention of knee and back pain, and targeted strengthening

With a personalized approach, I help you:

  • Perform longer and enjoyably
  • Progress safely
  • Reduce your risk of injury
